| Typing test (Hindi) | LDC / JSA | 30 WPM (9,000 key depressions per hour) | 10 minutes · 1,500 key depressions |
| DEST (English) | Data Entry Operator | 8,000 key depressions per hour | 15 minutes · 2,000 key depressions |
The skill test is qualifying. One word = 5 key depressions. Candidates choose English or Hindi for the typing test.
How errors are counted
- Full mistakes: a word left out, a wrong word, or a word that is not in the passage.
- Half mistakes: spelling errors, wrong capital or small letters, and spacing errors.
- Error % = (full mistakes + half mistakes ÷ 2) ÷ words typed × 100. Allowed: 7% for UR and EWS, 10% for OBC, SC, ST, PwBD and ESM candidates.
- To qualify you need both: enough key depressions in the time, and errors within the limit. Speed and errors are not shown while you type.
