Keyboard layout
The mapping above is for the Remington Marathi keyboard, available through the CDAC ISM software. Developed by CDAC GIST, this keyboard is meant for government organisations to establish a standard typing system. The layout is based on the Remington Standard typewriter keyboard, first introduced in 1878. The Remington Standard layout is still used on many English keyboards today, and the Marathi Remington ISM V6 layout adapts it to the Devanagari script, which is used to write Marathi and several other Indian languages. Marathi Remington ISM V6 is one of the most common keyboard layouts for typing in Marathi: it is logical and efficient, which makes Marathi easy to type.
